Episode 9: Inside-Out Weight Loss Protocol: Supporting Metabolism, Thyroid Health, and Your Relationship With Food
Show Notes
Episode DescriptionChrissy Evans believed losing weight would finally fix what was "wrong" with her.
At more than 270 pounds, she was struggling with fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, depression, binge eating, and subclinical hypothyroidism. After years of struggling with her weight, she even borrowed money for weight-loss surgery, only to find ways to eat around the procedure and eventually stall her progress.
Chrissy ultimately did lose 150 pounds. But reaching her goal weight revealed something she never expected: changing her body hadn't healed the pain underneath her relationship with food.
Drinking, vaping, and unhealthy relationships began taking the place of old behaviors, forcing her to confront the difference between changing on the outside and truly healing from within.
In this episode of The Jordan Rubin Show, Jordan and Chrissy explore the physical, emotional, and spiritual sides of lasting weight loss. Chrissy shares how developing a genuine relationship with Christ transformed her identity, how she stopped tying her worth to her appearance, and how she learned to care for her body from a place of stewardship rather than shame. They also discuss the nutrition strategies that helped Chrissy maintain her 150-pound weight loss for more than eight years.
Watch through to the end for the complete Inside-Out Weight Loss Protocol, including Chrissy's protein-forward, lower-carb approach, thyroid-supportive nutrition, glandular supplements and warming herbs, plus practical strategies for addressing emotional eating, identity, and the deeper issues that can keep us stuck.

Inside-Out Weight Loss Protocol: Supporting Metabolism, Thyroid Health, and Your Relationship With Food
(5-6 Minute Read)Chrissy Evans lost a staggering 150 pounds, but losing the weight wasn't what ultimately healed her.
At her heaviest, Chrissy weighed more than 270 pounds and was struggling with fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, depression, binge eating, and subclinical hypothyroidism. She eventually underwent weight-loss surgery, only to discover that changing the size of her stomach couldn't change what was happening inside of her.
Her lasting transformation began when she addressed both sides of the health and happiness equation: supporting her body with nutrient-dense foods and other healthy habits while also confronting the emotional and spiritual issues that had shaped her relationship with food.
Confidence doesn't always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we're unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you're capable.
The key to making things happen isn't waiting for the perfect moment; it's starting with what you have, where you are. Big goals can feel overwhelming when viewed all at once, but momentum builds through small, consistent action.
You don't need to be fearless to reach your goals, you just need to be willing. Willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to believe that you're capable of more than you know.
